Two posts today to get your heart pumping.
If your a working Mom and are a little like me....get caught between wanting to make a special treat for school and all those fun occasions(GUILT, PURE GUILT) but actually finding the time (and energy) to do it.......well you will like this one.
Anna of course was in need of a Valentine treat for school. We were about to settle on juice boxes when I thought I might quickly review one of my "BOARDS" on Pinterest.
A quick trip to Laurel and I was in business. And let me tell you I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS!
You need
sucker sticks (2.00 at walmart for 50)
a bag or two of these
I got the great big bag...as I wanted to make treats for dance too.
Turn the oven to about 200. (this is what the "real" directions say but I turned mine up a bit more to 250 to 275)
Start unwrapping
The directions now say to put tin foil with wax paper over it ...but you know me (SUBSTITUTIONS THE NAME OF THE GAME) No wax paper at my house. I just sprayed the foil with a bit of Pam...and then later just used the pam directly on the pan which worked as well.
The fun part was arranging the colors and flavors....just line them up in three's ...
I put five sets on each side which worked well
stick them in the over for 5 to 6 minutes.
this is the perfect time to pull them out of the oven. Next you take the stick and about a quarter of the way from the bottom stick them in. I twisted them to over halfway up. Be sure that the stick is covered well so they stay on.
(If you let them cool a minute or so they are easier to get off the foil.)
Not to worry if you over cook a bit...they just spread out some and make funky shapes...(I KNOW FROM PRACTICE)
and kids like crazy shapes......
the good ones we saved for Anna's class....wrapped them in saran and tied them with a ribbon.
THE FUNKY ONES we put in a jar and took to dance.
The dance group LOVED THEM!!! And this I will definitely be doing again....the perfect way to WOW YOUR FRIENDS that you MADE SUCKERS!!!!
HAPPY DAY!
oh and if you want the REAL recipe, you can go to my pinterest account Lori Stibal Kraft and it is on my FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD BOARD.
