For the first time in seventeen years we actually took an extra day at market for a little fun. With the difference between markets, Denver and Dallas, we decided to spend the extra day in Oklahoma City looking for a little junk. We just used our friend google and that handy dandy phone with directions and we were set.
Right off the bat we found an area of antiques malls. Of course being first thing in the morning they not only looked scary, run down and made us wonder if we were in the right part of town, there was hardly a car around. Bars on the windows don't scare us...and inside we found beautiful antiques with a southern drawl asking us if we needed a cup of coffee...my kinda place.
soon we found a more up scale building with upscale antiques including this fine treaure....
I can't even begin to tell you the possibilities for this little puppy and sitting right next to it this
in the sweetest pastel colors one would ever want....and you may not know that Lynda has done a bit of "remodeling" which means painting lately and went to WHITE WALLS with touches of pastel, cottage colors.........perfect!!!
But must admit the rack was some hundreds of dollars over our price range so we opted for a picture instead. But just before leaving to find a place that maybe had a bit more "JUNK" rather than fine goods we found
This charming (perfect colored) board game from 1966 just made us bust out laughing....especially when you opened it up to find
can it be that simple!!! love love love this game...
Not sure what is now going to become of it but at least it was in our "price range" to bring home.
We begged the owners to direct us to a place that was a bit more "INFORMAL" and soon found this...
The rink was a huge mall that had once been a RINK...roller skating that is...and it was darling....with rows and rows of fifties tables and vinyl chairs we new we had found our place. Throw in a pink CANDY light up sign that I CAN'T BELIEVE WE DIDN"T BUY ..(can't believe we didn't even get some pictures..)and our hearts were pounding
That is where I found my treasures
a jadeite juicer type of thing...ok not really sure that is what it is, but hey sounds good and it was free with these
the first of my Jadeite JUNK...that I now need to collect. HEY 30.00 FOR ALL THREE....PURE STEAL!!!!
I really wanted the high bar table and pink vinyl chairs and the CANDY sign but....... oh well
next off to Dallas and Fort Worth where we found another great big mall but by then was pretty much junked out.
I can't forget my last treasure from our favorite junk store in Kansas...Lyn found a darling piece of sheet music...THE SOUND OF MUSIC, My Favorite Things...to go with her newest piece of furniture (stay tuned to see it soon YOU'LL BE SOOOOO JEALOUS) and I found this fine piece....
